AIDS ORPHANS ALONE IN SWAZILAND

One of the social consequences of the fact that Swaziland has the highest rate of HIV infection in the world is that there are about 3,000 households in the kingdom headed by children, because their parents have died of AIDs-related illness. The AFP TV news agency has produced a short news report on the subject. AFP says that although the fight against HIV is a top priority in Swaziland, it is still largely stigmatised, ‘often known simply as the three letter disease’.

To see the report click here. It lasts for about two minutes and although it barely scrapes the surface of the issue of ‘AIDS orphans’ it will be of particular interest to people new to the topic.
